Nikkei slowly moved lower on Wednesday as a pause in the yen's decline on profit-taking in exporters, while Gree Inc. tumbled after cutting its annual profit.
Nikkei down 0.3 percent at 11,337.19, moving away from 33-month highs 11,498.42. Market analysts said the underlying mood remained positive after a U.S. Treasury Department official on Monday voiced support for Japan's aggressive policy to fight deflation and boost growth.
But the market may be susceptible to short-term volatility until the weekend, when the Group of 20 finance chiefs will meet in Moscow.
The Japanese market is likely to remain sensitive to the commentary in the official G20 meeting. Any comments can move the market rate.
Investors focus on individual stocks based on their income, such as internet gamers Gree Inc, a bit disappointed with the profit and cuts outlook for profits, followed by Nomura Securities cut its rating.
Gree fell 11.2 percent to ¥ 1,206, and the eighth most traded stock by turnover on the forum after cutting profit outlook for the year to June to 50-60 billion yen ($ 537 - $ 645 million), compared with a previous estimate of 74 ¥ -84,000,000,000.

Asian shares steady, Japan soaring
Asian
stocks held steady on Tuesday with regional markets still closed for
the holiday, but Japanese stocks surged after the comments to a U.S.
official. The market as a whole does not have the momentum as investors awaited key events from the U.S. president.
Asia's FTSE 100 rose 0.4 percent higher. Nikkei Stocks posted gains on Tuesday as exporters benefited from a weaker yen after U.S. Treasury official said the United States supports Japan's efforts to end deflation and re-invigorate growth.
The benchmark index rallied 2.5 percent to 11,425.3 points, while the broader Topix index gained 1.8 percent. Exporter shares rose by Toyota Motor, Canon, Sony, and Nikon between 2.3 up to 3.6 percent.
Renesas Electronics fell 5.2 percent, the lowest 3-month, after cutting its forecast for the year ending March 31 to an operating loss of 26 billion yen ($ 278 million).
However, Nissan Motor lost 2.5 percent after full-year net profit unchanged, bucking the trend among Japanese automakers for a more optimistic as a result of the depreciation of the yen.
South Korean shares edged up on Tuesday, extending gains after strong data from China over the weekend.The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 0.1 percent to 1,952.8 points. Samsung Electronics rose 0.8 percent while Hyundai Motors rose 0.5 percent.

Strengthening Nikkei Ends
Nikkei down from its highest point during the three months today with the industrial robot maker Fanuc fell, seementara the Fed appears ready to stimulate the American economy.
Fanuc led the decline in the Nikkei with attenuation as much as 1.5 percent after the results were disappointing some investors their production.
Ind. Corning also rose after their rivals in the production of glass Nippon Electric Glass Co. Ltd. and Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. fell 6.5 percent respectively, and 2.7 percent.
